My name is Marie, and I’m serving in the Peace Corps in South Africa as an Education Volunteer until September 2013.
In South Africa, I’m not Marie, I’m Kgalalelo (the g is essentially silent). My host family from my training site gave me this name, and in that region it means “One that shines.” I’ll take it.
The name of this blog came from one of my fellow volunteers about a year ago, and I kept it in mind in case I ever made a blog. Thanks friend!
The picture above is from my backyard one evening. The cell tower to the right is on my school grounds, so whenever I’m traveling back to site and see it, I know I’m almost home.
