Break-in

Over the long weekend, while I was helping my host sister with Math, buying food in town, and relaxing with other volunteers, someone was breaking into my school. They took our administrative computer, both laptops, cell phones, and money. The school and the children were in chaos as we waited for the police to collect statements, take pictures, and look for fingerprints. Despite their effort I highly doubt they’ll be able to catch these criminals.

I’ve always felt safe in my village. My host family, principal, and fellow teachers are always looking out for me. Even though tomorrow should be back to normal, this event has definitely rattled my sense of security, and I hope this was just a one-time thing.
